Get walking Around Corby

The Around Corby Walking Festival is in its third year and takes place on 30th April – 2nd May 2011. This 3 day event delivers a walking programme aimed at encouraging people to get out, enjoy Corby’s great outdoors and try walking as a way of getting more active and becoming healthier. The Festival will be launched by the Mayor of Corby Borough and the National Chairman of the Ramblers Association, Rodney Whittaker on Saturday 30th April at 9.30am at East Carlton Country Park.

The programme will appeal to all fitness abilities, whether you’re a complete novice or a rambling enthusiast. Many of the walk routes are based on the 34 mile circular network of footpaths connecting the 7 parishes of Corby, known as Around Corby, but there are also themed walks on local history, wildlife and photography.  A Teddy Bear Family Funday is organised at East Carlton Country Park on Sunday 1 May from 1-3pm, where you can bring your favourite teddy bear for an afternoon of fun, drama and storytelling, courtesy of Core Theatre.

Thanks go to the Festival Working Group partners, the Core Theatre, Corby Schools Partnership and Bizzy Bees Buses for their generous support to the 2011 Festival.

The full programme is now available and can be accessed on the Around Corby website www.aroundcorby.co.uk and the Corby Borough Council website www.corby.gov.uk. Alternatively contact Suzanne Preston on 01536 463177 or email suzanne.preston@corby.gov.uk for a copy.
