Falconry & Owl Day returns to Rockingham Castle. Swooping over the rooves of the Castle and out over the Welland Valley below, these beautiful birds which have been flown as the pets and sporting hunting birds of Royalty for hundreds of years will be here.
This annual event provides a wonderful opportunity for adults and children alike to see these magnificent birds at close quarters both in the air and on their perches. Expert falconers will be on hand to display the falcons and owls and talk to visitors about these magnificent birds.
Castle Operations Manager, Andrew Norman said “Remarkably many of the birds that will be here live around us all the time and we only catch fleeting glimpses of them. Here is a wonderful opportunity to see these birds close up and flying in a beautiful and historic setting”.
The birds will fly every half hour from 12 noon. The Castle grounds are open from 12 noon to 5pm with the Castle opening at 1pm. For further information about visiting the Castle and the events taking place please telephone 01536 770240 or visit the website at www.rockinghamcastle.com
