Colyers Gardens, Kingswood, Corby: Show Home Opening

On Thursday, 10th February, local stakeholders gathered to witness the opening of the Show Home at Colyers Gardens, Kingswood. Delivery of the Show Home allows all present, and visitors to the site, the opportunity to see the high quality new properties in the 146 home regeneration project.

Colyers Gardens is a joint project between Corby Borough Council, the Homes & Communities Agency and BeLa Partnership. The regeneration project is designed to deliver quality, sustainable homes at the centre of the established Kingswood estate, providing quality houses in a thriving community.

As a result of careful planning and close attention to detail, the 146 homes at Colyers Gardens comply with Code Level 3 energy guidelines, resulting in a 25% reduction in running costs.  Corby Borough Council's Lead Member for Regeneration, Cllr Jimmy Noble, said:

‘This whole regeneration project in Kingswood has made great strides since demolishing began back in 2005 and thanks to the hard work of all partners involved we are able to celebrate another step forward for Colyers Gardens and officially open the show home.

‘We have already seen many residents settle in to these affordable new homes and I’m sure with the added advantage of being able to view the show home and see the quality and full potential of these properties that we can look forward to many more families moving in over the coming months.’

The HCA, the national housing and regeneration agency, has supported the Colyers Gardens development with £4.8m investment through the Kickstart programme, in addition to the £1.5m to help Corby Borough Council build the first council homes in decades on the scheme.

Jonathan Turner, investment and regeneration manager for the HCA, said: “The Kingswood project is a major housing priority for the council, and we’re pleased that the local community is starting to see real change happening here.”

Within the 146 homes at Colyers Gardens, 116 are for open market private sale. Figures show that 43 units have already been reserved before the delivery of the Show Home, which underlines the popularity of the new development..

Alfred Buller, Director of Bela Partnership, the developers responsible for delivering the scheme, comments:

“I am delighted to be able to unveil the Show Home at Colyers Gardens and provide a further insight to the development’s commitment to high levels of quality and sustainability.

Colyers Gardens is another success for Corby Borough Council and the Homes & Communities Agency, delivering valuable investment in an area where it will have a significant impact.”

With 2 bedroom homes starting from £89,950 and 4 bedroom homes from 132,950, there is real opportunity for first time buyers and growing families to purchase a quality and sustainable new home.
