With spectacular views over the Welland Valley and the backdrop of a 400 year old yew Elephant Hedge, the scene is set for this year’s Rockingham Castle alfresco theatre production on the 4th July. Heartbreak Productions return to Rockingham for the 15th year with their production of Secret Garden.
The story of Mary Lennox, catapulted by the death of her parents to live with her Uncle, is the child from hell. Her Uncle, a recluse, and cousin Colin, a spoilt and sickly child, don’t really want her around, so what is there for Mary to do? Finding the key to a secret garden, locked and hidden for ten years changes everything for the “family” and their lives blossom as mother nature works her magic. Performed in the great outdoors, Heartbreak Productions’ version of this classic children’s tale, demonstrates all that is good about friendship and promises to add a touch of magic to your summer’s evening. We suggest that you come with family, friends and a picnic basket! The performance is suitable for ages 6 to 60 and beyond.
Operations Manger, Andrew Norman said “This is one of the classic children’s stories. How fitting that the performance should take place in the beautiful gardens of Rockingham Castle. What a wonderful setting in which to see this great story retold in Heartbreak’s original style”.
Gates open from 6pm each night, performances commence 7.30pm on the Terrace. Light refreshments are available during interval and visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs, warm clothing & picnic if desired.
