The Kingswood School is a comprehensive school for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18. It opened as a grammar school in 1965 with 150 students and was designated specialist arts status in September 2004.
There is a separate Sixth Form where students can choose to follow a one-year, or a two-year course and can choose to study vocational and/or academic courses.
Kingswood performs above the national average in GCSE results. The latest OFTSED report describes Kingswood as an “effective school” and praises recent improvements in many areas, singling out the school’s IT developments in particular.
The school takes part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award; is part of the local Excellence Cluster and the Northamptonshire Raising Standards Partnership. It holds awards for Healthy Schools, Schools Achievement, Artsmark Gold and Sportsmark.
